Richard Madeley admitted was ‘bursting’ for the loo during a typically surreal interview with Ant and Dec today as he returned to This Morning with wife, Judy Finnigan.

Since Richard and Judy were the faces of This Morning until 2001 before the show moved bases. But they weren’t the only ones struggling to navigate their way through the new studio.

‘I’m getting lost all the time,’ Ant admitted.

But Richard was having problems of his own with the new set-up.

‘So do we,’ Richard revealed. ‘I couldn’t find the toilet, I am bursting – seriously!’

Ant cried: ‘Someone bring him a coffee cup!’

‘I’m looking forward to the commercial break,’ Richard joked.

Luckily for the dad-of-two, the advert break quickly played after so we can only assume he dashed off to the loo very quickly.

The duo’s return to morning TV, toilet breaks aside, was acclaimed by fans who tuned in thinking they’d been transported back in time 20 years.

‘Great to see the King and Queen of morning TV back home on This Morning,’ one viewer wrote.

Another added: ‘Richard and Judy…it’s like putting your favourite cosy jumper on. Great to see them back.’

‘Richard and Judy are brilliant,’ someone else commented.

After initially leaving This Morning in 2001, Richard and Judy moved to front their own self-titled series from 2001-2009 on Channel 4 and Watch respectively.

As anchors of ITV’s flagship daytime show, the couple were responsible for some absolute TV gems – including Richard’s bizarre dress-up as Ali G live on-air.

‘We did warn you,’ Richard said opening the programme today. ‘We said we’d be back.’

This Morning continues weekdays from 10am on ITV.
