Richard E. Grant has been giving Withnail and I fans a daily treat as he has been recreating classic moments from the film on video.

The actor, 63, starred in the original 1987 film about two unemployed actors and has been reading classic lines from the movie on Twitter.

Dubbing it ‘Withnail & Isolation’, Richard has recorded a daily clip to keep fans (and himself) entertained during the coronavirus lockdown.

A recent clip sees Richard filming himself in the tub, as he quotes: ‘Don’t say that! The only thing you’ve been in that I’ve been in is this f**king bath!’, before collapsing into giggles.

The dark comedy film was originally released over 30 years ago, but has maintained its place as a firm fan favourite.

Withnail and I saw Richard star opposite Paul McGann as two out of work actors sharing a flat in Camden in 1969.

Deciding they need a holiday, the pair convince Withnail’s wealthy uncle Monty to give them the keys to his cottage in the Lake District for a break away from London and the reality of their failing acting careers.

The trip appears to be cursed from the start as they arrive to bad weather, no supplies and the cottage is without running water or power.

Withnail and Marwood are soon joined by Monty who they believe to be an intruder at first as he arrives in the night with supplies, before attempting to put the moves on Marwood.

The film’s comedic moments and quotable lines mean it has become a cult classic, so fans were over the moon to see Richard recreating some of them on Twitter.

Richard has been making the videos from his home in the Cotswolds where he has been isolating during the pandemic.

We can’t wait to see which scene he is going to recreate next.
