REAL Housewives of New Jersey star Margaret Josephs has been hit with another lawsuit after years of legal issues and financial troubles.
In court papers exclusively obtained by The Sun Online, Capital One Bank sued Margaret, 52, on December 5, 2019 for $12, 172.86.
“Defendant failed to make periodic payments on the Account, which was subsequently charged off,” the lawsuit obtained from Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County read.
“The entire balance on the account is owed to Plaintiff and is presently due and payable in full.”
The court papers continued that Capital One has demanded payment of the credit account, but star of the hit Bravo show allegedly “has failed and refused to remit same.”
In addition to the judgement, the Plaintiff is asking Margaret to pay court costs.
A summons was mailed to Margaret on December 9, 2019. The case will default on January 16, 2020 unless otherwise notified.
On a November 27, 2019 episode of RHONJ, Margaret opened up about her financial issues following a legal battle with competitor Vineyard Vines, who sued her company Macbeth Collection for trademark infringement back in 2014.
“I’m coming off a rough couple of years,” she explained on the episode. “I had a horrible lawsuit with Vineyard Vines… They accused me of stealing their logo, which I did not do.
“I settled for around $300,000 because I could not afford to go to trial,” she continued. “I filed for bankruptcy in my business. They put a lien on my property. I’m up to my eyeballs in legal bills.”
In the scene, she discussed the renovations to be made to her New Jersey home before putting it on the market.
“Every month that goes by, I’m getting more in a hole,” she explained.
But the financial troubles don’t end there. Margaret was also sued in March 2018 by a law firm for an unpaid legal bill in the amount of $3,568.73.
She was ordered to pay $3,744.10 in July 2018.
A rep for Margaret did not respond to The Sun Online’s request for comment.
