Resident Evil 3 demo confirmed to be ‘on the way’ says Capcom

Capcom has announced that there will be a playable demo for Resident Evil 3 and it shouldn’t be long until it’s out.

Considering it’s one of the most anticipated games of the year there’s been curiously little marketing activity around the Resident Evil 3 remake so far, with the first hands-on previews only appearing this week.

Given how well received the last remake was that’s probably not going to matter but a playable demo will certainly help raise the game’s profile and according to the tweet below it is coming.

As you can see, there’s no more information than that but Capcom put a lot of effort into the Resident Evil 2 demo, which at first could only be played once, for just 30 minutes.

There’s no indication of whether the Resident Evil 3 demo will also be a ‘one-shot’ but that limitation was removed from the first one once Resident Evil 2 was released.

Capcom even went to the trouble of adding a little Easter egg to the demo back in December, where you could hear Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 shouting ‘STARS!’ outside.

So little has been known about Resident Evil 3 up till now, that it’s only just been revealed that the game is being co-developed by a new studio set up only a year ago and run by ex-Platinum Games CEO Tatsuya Minami.

According to VGC the company is called M-Two and is staffed by several ex-Capcom and Platinum developers. But a number of other studios are also involved, including Capcom subsidiary K2 and Red Works – with the latter led by Platinum and Capcom veteran Kiyohiko Sakata, who apparently is working as Resident Evil 3 remake’s director.

It’s certainly unusual to only find out who a game’s director is at the last minute like this, especially as the developers of Resident Evil 2’s remake were happy to do interviews before the release of their game.

There’s no suggestion that Capcom is trying to hide anything though, as they never indicate which internal studios are making their games and don’t seem to deem that sort of information important.

Resident Evil 3 will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on 3 April.
