Renee Zellweger brightened up the red carpet at the London premiere of the new biopic Judy tonight, with the actress sporting all the colours of the rainbow.

The Bridget Jones’ Diary actress graced the red carpet at the Curzon cinema in Mayfair on Monday night looking radiant in a lilac dress.

But it was the rainbow-coloured umbrella that Renee carried to brave the London showers that drew attention.

Like a true pro, Renee didn’t allow the typically poor British weather to dampen her mood and smiled away as she posed on the red carpet.

Just last week, the actress had a familiar face on her arm at the Los Angeles premiere of her new biopic Judy, with Sam Smith accompanying her for the swanky event.

Sam, 27, joined her at the bash and looked dapper in an olive green suit teamed with a matching silk shirt, and they certainly gave the photographers an eyeful as they left it unbuttoned to their stomach.

Clearly it’s not chilly in LA this time of year.

The pair clearly get along swimmingly as they laughed and joked around while posing for photos.

It appears Renee, 50, bonded well with Sam while recording their cover version of the 1950 hit Get Happy, originally from the musical movie Summer Stock.

After their duet was released earlier this month, Sam tweeted: ‘Such a pleasure to collaborate with the gorgeous and talented Renée Zellweger on this.

‘I hope everyone hears it and smiles.’

Renee has earned acclaim from early reviews of Judy but the late icon’s daughters – Liza Minnelli and Lorna Luft – have stated they will be not be watching the biopic of their mother.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain last week, Lorna explained her decision not to watch the movie: ‘I’m really protective of my mum’s legacy and my mother’s legendary career. I feel that if you really want to know about my mum, go see her movies and go listen to her recordings, and that’s how you’ll know about her.’

TMZ later reported that Liza ‘most likely’ won’t watch Judy as she believes it would be ‘painful viewing’.

In addition to her stellar Hollywood career, Judy will chart the actress’ personal troubles including substance abuse.

While Liza reportedly feels Renee is a ‘wonderful actress’, sources say she ‘would find many of the scenes hurtful, and isn’t looking to tarnish her memories of her mother’.

Judy is set for release on 2 October.
