In November, Sonia Kruger quit the Nine Network live on air during Today Extra.

The blonde, who had been a fixture at the network for eight years, broke down as she revealed her plans to ‘do something new’ and ‘spread her wings’, while her co-host David Campbell, 46, watched on in shock.

Sonia did not reveal where she was going, but said she had fond memories of her time at Nine.

The announcement came after Daily Mail Australia reported that Sonia was defecting from Nine to the Seven Network, after being offered ‘more than $1million a year.’

‘After eight fabulous years, I’m leaving the show and the Nine Network. I have had an amazing time here,’ Sonia said at the time, as David pleaded for her not to cry.

‘I’ve been very privileged to work on some top-shelf programs and of course with you, David, here.’

‘And all of the team on the show, it’s been an absolute blast and its time for me to go and do something new. You know what it’s like Dave, you have to go and spread your wings.’

David cheekily replied: ‘No, I’m staying!’
