In the 1980s he portrayed Clayton Runnymede Endicott III, the highbrow chief of staff at a governor’s mansion on ABC series Benson.
It wasn’t until 1990s the he took on the sci-fi role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where he played Odo, the shape-shifting Changeling and head of space-station security.
He was nominated for an Emmy for guest actor in the ABC drama The Practice in 2001, where he played Judge Mantz.
He also appeared as a guest in many other classic series, such as Murder She Wrote, The Jeffersons, The Outer Limits, L.A. Law, Stargate SG-1, Frasier, and the more recent hit It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
