Reiss Nelson confirms he wants to return to Arsenal next season to fight for places

Reiss Nelson insists he’s ready to fight for his spot at Arsenal and does not want to go back out on loan next season.

The winger spent last season with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim and impressed during his loan spell in Germany.

Unai Emery has just £45m to spend this summer and often relied on wing-backs Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles andHector Bellerin for width last season.

Hoffenheim would like to keep Nelson, while he would not be short on offers from other clubs.

However, the 19-year-old says he’s ‘Arsenal through and through’ and feels he’s ready to return to the Emirates.

Asked if he’d improved in Germany, Nelson replied: ‘One hundred per cent. I learned a lot of stuff. I made a lot of friends, and also I made a good connection with the managers.

‘They taught me a lot of stuff that I can take on in my career. It was difficult, leaving, but Arsenal are my team and I want to go back to Arsenal and play.’

‘I am Arsenal through and through. I support Arsenal. All my family support Arsenal.

‘That’s an interaction I have with the fans. It’s a good thing. They support a lot of the young talent coming up through Arsenal. It’s good.’

Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Celtic star Kieran Tierney and are preparing to submit an improved offer of around £18m for the Scotland international.

Emery has no intention of selling Lucas Torreira, despite interest from AC Milan.

The Spaniard will look to sign a midfielder and a forward once a deal for Tierney goes through.
