Rebel Wilson says she loved the 'polarising' response to the 'Cats' trailer

The first trailer for Tom Hooper’s movie version of the musical Cat emerged earlier this month, and it really didn’t go down very well.

With the likes of Taylor Swift, Idris Elba and Dame Judi Dench cloaked in strange an eerie cat CGI, social media was soon awash with terror.

Some examples below…

But fellow star Rebel Wilson has said that she’s not concerned by the polarised response. Quite the contrary.

Wilson, who plays Jennyanydots in the film, told Cosmo: “When the trailer came out, the response was pretty massive.

“There’s some people who were like, ‘Oh my God’ because it is brand-new technology that’s CGI. I think people get confused because it’s essentially a dance movie in a lot of ways.

“So it really is all our own bodies. And yes, they’re covered in fur. I think some people found it a bit creepy ’cause we’re people but we look a bit like cats dancing around. I loved the reaction.

“I think it was a bit polarizing and people will be super curious to see the finished product. What you got in that trailer was just some small samples of it, but it’s going to be such a big movie. And the cast is obviously incredible.”

She’s right about that.

As well as Wilson, Elba, Swift and Dench, there’s Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, Sir Ian McKellen, James Corden, feted French dance duo Les Twins and Francesca Hayward, principal ballerina for the Royal Ballet.

Due out in the UK on December 20, you can check the trailer again below (if you dare).
