Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed his intention to sign Eden Hazard this summer and believes the Chelsea star will finally be moving to the Bernabeu.

The Spanish giants have long been linked with a move for the Belgian, who only has one year left on his Chelsea contract, and Real are believed to be working on a £100m deal to prise him away from Stamford Bridge.

While manager Zinedine Zidane has been reluctant to talk about another club’s player, Perez has no such qualms and appears increasingly confident of landing Hazard.

Asked about Real’s interest in the winger on Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Perez explained: ‘We have been trying to make Hazard a Real Madrid player for several years.

‘We are working on a project to make people dream again, where we recover our hunger and ambition. I have already lived through this stage before.

‘I have a dream that Hazard will arrive this year. Let’s make a good team this year.

‘I am very interested in him coming to Real Madrid and I am very hopeful that he will come this year. He’s one of the great footballers.

‘Last year we wanted him, but this year he only has one year left on his contract and it is easier.’

Hazard – who has enjoyed his best ever campaign for the Blues, scoring 16 times and laying on 15 assists in the Premier League – will likely make his final appearance for Chelsea in the Europa League final against Arsenal in Baku on Wednesday night.
