Real Madrid plotting big name player sale to fund Paul Pogba transfer from Man Utd

Real Madrid are not giving up in their pursuit of Manchester United ‘s wantaway star Paul Pogba and will sell one of their big-name stars to help fund a £150million move.

The France World Cup winner is angling for a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with Madrid and his former club Juventus in the race to secure his signature.

United, in a bid to ward off interest, have slapped a whopping £150m price tag on a player they signed for a club-record £89m fee from Juve in 2016.

However that hasn’t put off Madrid and The Daily Mail has claimed that they are in the process of selling James Rodriguez to Napoli to help finance the move.

Paul Pogba faces an uncertain future at Manchester United

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has already splashed out £300m to sign Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao and Rodrygo this summer.

And the French boss must sell players to raise additional funds and among the players up for sale is Rodriguez, who is closing in on a cut-price £35m move to Napoli.

It is also claimed that Madrid remain confident that Pogba would prefer a switch to the Bernabeu rather than return to Italy to play for Juve.

Pogba has struggled for consistent form since returning to Old Trafford in a club-record deal in 2016.
