Real Madrid make decision over future of manager Santiago Solari

Real Madrid have reportedly decided that Santiago Solari will NOT be their manager next season.

Solari has overseen a catastrophic week at the Bernabeu as Los Blancos lost twice to Clasico rivals Barcelona and crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Ajax.

Their hopes of silverware on all three fronts have been effectively dashed, with their Copa del Rey exit being followed by a second defeat to Barca which leaves them 12 points off the title pace.

Real fans chanted for the return of Jose Mourinho following the defeat by Ajax, with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino also linked with a switch to the Bernabeu.

And, according to Goal, the Real hierarchy has decided they will change their manager ahead of next term.

Despite back-to-back Clasico defeats, Real were still heavy favourites to progress to the last eight of the Champions League against the Dutch giants.

They were 2-1 up after the first leg in Amsterdam, but found themselves behind on aggregate by half-time.

Dusan Tadic, who became the ninth player in history to be awarded a 10/10 by L’Equipe in their ratings, set up both first-half goals before scoring himself after the break.

Real have suffered a catastrophic week

Marco Asensio pulled one back for the holders, who have won the Champions League in each of the last three seasons, but Ajax almost immediately hit back and won 4-1 on the night.

Senior Real officials are reportedly upset with Solari and the players, particularly the Argentine’s team selections in the last week.

Solari replaced Julen Lopetegui in the Beranbeu dugout in October.
