Real Madrid are the latest club to show an interest in Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho and present another option to the England winger away from a Premier League switch.

The 20-year-old is enjoying a sensational season in the Bundesliga, registering 17 goals and 17 assists so far, after his hat-trick against Paderborn at the weekend.

Speculation is rife over his future and he is expected to leave Germany this summer with a return to his native England touted as his most likely destination.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been credited with the most serious interest in his signature, while former club Manchester City and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the prodigious talent.

However, Real Madrid are throwing their considerable weight into the transfer battle, according to Spanish publication AS, who report that the La Liga giants are keeping a close eye on Sancho’s situation.

Due to the economic uncertainty of the coronavirus crisis, Real Madrid are believed to be unlikely to make a mega-money move for the Englishman this summer, but are monitoring the situation and will be ready to make a move next summer if Sancho doesn’t return to England this year.

Dortmund are keen to keep hold of the winger, at least for another year, but with his contract expiring in 2022 and an extension unlikely, the German club will look to cash in in 2021 at the latest.

Sancho had been valued at around £100m before the global pandemic sent shockwaves through football’s economy and he may not quite reach that value now, but Dortmund would expect the vast majority of that fee either this summer or the next.
