Zinedine Zidane has added Lyon’s Nabil Fekir to his list of transfer targets this summer after returning to Real Madrid as manager.

The Frenchman has come back to the club he left just 10 months ago on the proviso that significant changes will be made to the squad at the end of the season.

The club have already secured the signing of central defender Eder Militao and have been linked with a number of big names including Neymar, Christian Eriksen and Eden Hazard.

However, PSG, Spurs and Chelsea fans will be pleased to hear that Real are also keen on another creative, in the form of Fekir.

The Daily Record report that Zidane is still looking to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus in the summer.

Zidane sees his countryman Fekir as being able to provide the creative presence in the forward line that has been lacking since Ronaldo’s move to Turin.

Gareth Bale, who was expected to step up after Ronaldo’s exit, has not had a good season in Spain and Zidane did not have great faith in the Welshman in his first spell in charge.

Liverpool came extremely close to signing Fekir last summer, agreeing financial terms with both the player and his club.

However, after the 25-year-old went for a medical on Merseyside, Liverpool attempted to negotiate these terms down, leading to the move falling apart.

Fekir started for Lyon in their 5-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night and described playing against Lionel Messi as ‘impossible.’

‘We played a good game, but history’s best player made it impossible for us,’ said Fekir.

‘When he’s not scoring he’s assisting. When he’s not assisting he’s play-making. It was impossible. He is impossible.’
