Real Madrid ace opens up on 'difficult' relationship with Santiago Solari

Real Madrid have had a torrid few weeks.

The La Liga giants saw their Copa del Rey and title hopes ended by back to back El Clasico defeats against Barcelona before being dumped out of the Champions League in humiliating fashion by Ajax.

It has led to reports of training round bust-ups and talks being underway regarding a new manager with Santiago Solari even linked with an imminent departure to be replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Solari’s side put their recent woes behind them to defy injury troubles and beat struggling Real Valladolid 4-1 on Sunday.

Centre-back Nacho Fernandez revealed the relationship between Solari and his players has hit rocky ground as a result of their poor form – yet he insists they are still backing their boss.

“The relationship with the boss is difficult as things are not going well,” he said in his post-match interview after beating Valladolid.

“But we are with him to the death.”

Madrid came on strong in the second half to see off Valladolid and claim three points after weathering a first-half storm.

But Nacho admitted their win did not do much to make up for their recent disastrous week which all but ended their season.

“I don’t think this win mitigates the week we’ve been through,” he added.

“This club forces you to win and we want to fight for this badge every day.

“It is difficult day-to-day.

“We wanted to go on our holidays with a trophy.”

The weekend’s fixtures leave Real Madrid third in the La Liga table, 12 points off Barcelona and still five behind second placed local rivals Atletico Madrid.
