REAL Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub had her breast implants removed after they made her ill.
The 57-year-old star has opened up about her decision to go under the knife again last month, admitting that she is convinced she suffered from “breast implant illness”.
The US reality star has called the boob job “the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life”, having had a total of five breast surgeries since 1992.
Speaking about her first op, which used saline implants, Danielle explained: “It felt like my boobs were sagging, they were like water balloons.
“I hated them, even though that was probably the best of all the surgeries until now.”
Danielle got DD implants in 2009 as she prepared to film the second series of RHNJ.
Over the next 10 years, the star battled low body temperature and fatigue, which she thinks is a result of the surgery.
She had the implants removed on 25 October, and told People: “I was under much scrutiny on RHONJ at the time and it was a very embarrassing for me because everyone was saying things about my body and my boobs.
“Nothing felt right. My breasts, they immediately felt cold and numb. I literally had no body temperature on my chest for years.
“They felt impacted, I felt ripples underneath them. And my skin was so thin around my breasts, you could see through it…I did not enjoy them at all.”
Her New York surgeon, Dr. Stephen Greenberg, added to the publication that Danielle had excessive scar tissue, which suggested a botched operation.
He went so far as to say that Danielle’s surgery was “a mess”, explaining: “She had a lot of scar tissue in there, deformed breasts, and one of her implants was ruptured, which caused a lot of pain.
“We had to take out all the old silicone, clean out everything – the scar tissue -and really reform her breasts. It just required starting from scratch.”
Danielle was so happy with her doctor’s recovery work that she cried when she saw herself for the first time post-surgery.
