Raul Jimenez believes Wolves will gatecrash the Premier League top-four this season – something that may well be at the expense of Manchester United, who are tracking the Mexico international.

Wolves sit just five points behind fourth-place Chelsea, with the season currently postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jimenez, who has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford, believes that they can bridge that gap when the season resumes and he has been amazed at the speed in which they have been able to challenge at the top end of the table, having been promoted from the Championship just two seasons ago.

‘It’s big for a team that was promoted [two years ago] and this is only our second season in the Premier League,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘We know that we can do it.

‘We can fight for it and I don’t think we’re going to be disappointed if we don’t do it but now that we see that we can do it.

‘It’s incredible to be part of this team, part of this family, we are all working hard to achieve our goal and I’m really enjoying playing with my team-mates.

‘Every one of us adds his little piece to what we are doing. I was really enjoying the season, I know it’s not finished yet and we know that we have to keep fighting for the places that we want.’

Jimenez has been a key part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in 29 Premier League appearances.

His impressive form has seen him linked with a move to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal.

United are currently two points ahead of Wolves in the table, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Leicester and Chelsea currently occupying the Champions League spots.

However, a fifth-place finish could be enough to secure top-tier European football next season, with Manchester City facing a two-year Champions League ban.

Whether the season concludes or not is another question, with Premier League chiefs facing a mad rush to get fixtures completed amid the coronavirus crisis.
