Rapper Stormzy lays into Boris Johnson in his latest single 'Vossi Bop'

Grime artist Stormzy has left listeners in no doubt about his feelings about Tory leadership hopeful Boris Johnson.

Releasing his single “Vossi Bop”, the award winning rapper didn’t pull his punches.

In what might be a dig at Boris’ promises during the Brexit campaign, and Theresa May’s failure to get a deal through parliament he raps: “Rule number 2 don’t make the promise/ If you can’t keep the deal then just be honest.”

“I can never die I’m Chuck Norris/ F**k the government and f**k Boris.”

All this while a group of dancers surround him, holding suitcases and wearing white-blond wigs that seem eerily familiar.

The single is his first release since 2017.

But politics isn’t new to Stormzy’s work.

At the Brits in 2018 Brits he delivered a furious attack on  Theresa May over her handling of the aftermath of the Grenfell fire.

Stormzy has been pretty vocal about his political views before

He said: “Theresa May, where’s the money for Grenfell?”

He added that the government “just forgot about Grenfell, you criminals, and you got the cheek to call us savages, you should do some jail time, you should pay some damages, we should burn your house down and see if you can manage this.”

The grime artist won two of the top gongs on the night.

But when quizzed at the time Theresa May’s spokesman was unable to confirm if she’d heard Stormzy’s performance.

Speaking at the time he said: “The PM has been very clear that Grenfell was an unimaginable tragedy that should never have happened and should never be allowed to happen again.

“She’s determined that the public inquiry will discover not just what went wrong but why the voices of the people of Grenfell had been ignored over so many years.”
