Rapper sparks outcry after bragging about flouting isolation to film gathering


Drill rapper M24 sparked outrage online after he bragged about organising a huge late night gathering.

The musician boasted on his social media accounts on Saturday as he flouted the UK government’s guidelines on coronavirus amid the pandemic sweeping the globe.

UK has been in lockdown which only allows people to leave their homes to shop for basic needs, medical needs, perform one form of exercise a day or to help a vulnerable person.

But the rapper decided to gather hoards of people at a housing estate to film a music video.

Fans turned on the musician as they raged about his late night antics.

Among the crowd, one wrote: “Imagine risking your life for a video what will flop.”

In the clip, the Brixton Hill artist was seen sitting on top of a matt black pickup truck wearing a T-shirt which read ‘DIOR’ while rapping along to his song.

The rapper posted videos of the set up on his Instagram story on Saturday night.

Dozens of people were seen dancing in close proximity in front of a housing block in one shot.

Some of gathering could be seen wearing a surgical face masks for protection.

In videos posted on snapchat, the rapper showed a kitchen rammed with people dancing.

A short time later, a police car pulled up with sirens blaring and lights flashing to disperse the crowd.

The rapper was then seen driving off in a black Mercedes while telling the camera it was “gang sh*t”.

M24 took to his Instagram two hours after posting the filming clips. He wrote: “Why’s all these blog pages chatting sh*t?

“Nun of these corona is gonna stop man. Work in any conditions.” [sic]

Many people slammed the rapper for risking lives for the sake of a video.

Others wrote: “What part of stay at home don’t these people get. The more they’re outside, the more time we’ll be on lockdown.”

“Think he missed the memo this is not cool or impressive,” while another commented: “I give up on humans!

It comes as it was announced that 4,934 patients have died in hospital in the UK after testing positive for coronaviru s.

The Department of Health said as of 9am on Sunday, a total of 195,524 people have been tested for Covid-19, 47,806 of whom have tested positive.
