Rangers legend Ally McCoist signed by Amazon to join punditry team covering English Premier League


It’s official. Rangers legend Ally McCoist has been signed by Amazon.

Amazon Prime Video have announced their on-screen talent for their debut English Premier League (EPL) coverage in December, and Ally McCoist will be joining them.

And he’s not the only Scot in the squad – Eilidh Barbour and Derek Rae are also onboard.

Amazon Prime Video will show two full sets of Premier League games in December after buying a pair of top-flight broadcast packages.

And, in a bid to show they mean business and can compete with rivals Sky Sports and BT Sport , the US company have landed a host of household names.

Ally McCoist will join Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, Peter Schmeichel, Michael Owen and Joe Cole on punditry duty.

Familiar faces Glenn Hoddle, Harry Redknapp, Jermaine Jenas and Lee Dixon will also be involved in the coverage, which will only be available to Amazon Prime Video customers .

Clive Tyldesley is Amazon’s top commentator, with Guy Mowbray, Jon Champion, Derek Rae, Ian Darke and Connor McNamara drafted in too.

Gabby Logan, Eilidh Barbour, Jim Rosenthal and Steve Bower are among the presenters picked up as Amazon prepare to offer viewers 20 live games across two gameweeks.

The early December gameweek will be headlined by a Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton on the 4th.

Manchester United’s showdown with Tottenham will also be shown that night, with Arsenal hosting Brighton a day later.

Amazon also have the rights to this year’s English Premier League fixtures on Boxing Day and December 27.

Chelsea are due to host Southampton on Boxing Day, while reigning Premier League champions Manchester City will travel to Wolves the day after.

Amazon Prime Video customers will not only be able to choose from 20 live games, but they will also have access to an exclusive goals show too.

Steve Bower will head up that coverage, with Robbie Savage, Tim Sherwood and Dion Dublin among the pundits poised to join him in the studio.
