Rangers fan appears on Judge Rinder over tattoo bet fallout with pal

Two Scottish pals appeared on Judge Rinder today to dispute a bet which meant one of them had to get a portrait of the other tattoed on his leg – dressed as a Power Ranger.

Rangers fan David Hendry got his leg tattooed after his Motherwell fan pal Aaron McMath managed to make it to every home match dressed in a Power Ranger morph suit – something David said he wouldn’t be able to do.

David wanted to sue Aaron for £250.

The pals struck the deal during a drunken night out in 2018 and today David appeared in front of the judge on ITV, with the hopes of being compensated £250 for the ‘permanent’ damage.

Mark tweeted his tattoo last year.

After losing out on the bet as Aaron managed to keep his end of the deal, David went along to Main Street Tattoo Parlour in Wishaw with a photo of Aaron dressed in a black Power Ranger suit holding a calculator – as a nod to his second name McMath.

Judge Rinder was shocked as the pair unveiled their comical antics, as they spoke about different bets they have put on in the past including buying each other tacky outfits to wear on holiday.

Judge Rinder was not impressed.

But moving on to the claim that had been brought to court, Judge Rinder said: “At the heart of it, the legal issue here is very interesting.”

The pair explained to the Judge all about the bet for the tattoo, and that David challenged Aaron to go to every Motherwell home game dressed in the morph suit – which he successfully completed.

David explained that he wanted compensation as there was a flaw in the bet and he has to live with the ink forever but Judge Rinder blasted: “But you agreed to it!”

He then went to explain the flaw as Aaron couldn’t make it to one game to wear the suit so had asked him if he could make up the game in another way to make sure the bet was still valid.

Aaron said that the bet was valid.

Aaron called David to ask if this was okay which he said it was, but David said he was so drunk he couldn’t remember agreeing on this phone call.

David said he was looking to receive the amount that it cost for the tattoo which was £250, he said: “Once I told the story that many times I’ve started to realise I’ve got him on my leg permemantly.”

Judge Rinder said: “Bets between friends can be legally enforceable if you have it in writing… the difficulty is you do not have anything in writing as it is the most stupid thing I have ever heard.”

Judge Rinder dismissed the case, meaning David left the court with nothing as he had agreed to the bet in the first place.
