Rami Malek has spoken out about his relationship with girlfriend Lucy Boynton, admitting that he ‘latched onto happiness’ when they began dating during Bohemian Rhapsody.

The Hollywood couple fell for each other while filming the Queen biopic last year, which saw Rami as Freddie Mercury and Lucy playing his on-screen girlfriend Mary Austin.

While the couple rarely speak about their romance, Rami, 38, reveals how he found relief from the pressures of Hollywood in their relationship.

In an interview with the September issue of GQ magazine, on which he graces the cover, the actor said: ‘Hollywood gets this rap of a lot of lascivious, nasty things that take place within the confines of pre-production to post-production and studios and agents and whatnot.

‘If you can find any type of happiness in it, latch on.’

And just when you thought Rami couldn’t get any cuter, he was actually shopping for a present for Lucy during the interview.

Not because it was her birthday but, “just because”.

According to the magazine, Rami popped into Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop store and settled on a bottle of Schmidt’s Jasmine Tea deodorant for Lucy.

We’re guessing she’s not the type to get offended easily.

But it actually turns out that Lucy has been on the hunt for an aluminium-free antiperspirant so it’s quite a thoughtful gift.

Rami also picked out a gold necklace making for the sweetest – and sort of random – little package to present to his love.

The Mr Robot actor confirmed their romance in January during his acceptance speech at the International Film Festival’s Film Awards Gala.

Speaking from the stage, Rami said: ‘Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidant, my love. Thank you so much.’
