Rambo: Last Blood trailer promises death in final chapter

Death is coming and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it. John Rambo, who Sylvester Stallone discovered in the 1972 novel First Blood by David Morrell, has “lived in a world of death,” and Rambo V intends to put an end to it. Rambo: Last Blood will be the fifth and final movie in the franchise and the trailer shows the military veteran is going out with a bang.

We last saw Stallone’s John Rambo in 2008. He’s gone from soldier to cowboy, living peacefully in a happy retirement since his last dispatches. “Now, Rambo must confront his past and unearth his ruthless combat skills to exact revenge in a final mission,” reads the official synopsis. “A deadly journey of vengeance.”

The trailer shows a haunted man who has to face new enemies and make new ghosts when one of Mexico’s most violent cartels kidnap the daughter of his caretaker Maria for a sex trafficking ring. “Rambo teams up with a journalist to track down and rescue a group of local girls that have been kidnapped by a Mexican sex trafficking ring, after trying to settle down to a quiet peaceful life stateside at the family ranch in Arizona after spending decades abroad,” according to the film’s official synopsis.

The screenplay was written by Stallone and Matt Cirulnick.

Rambo: Last Blood, which debuted at Cannes, will hit cinemas on 20th September.
