Rage Against The Machine has raised over $3m (£2.2m) for charity through their specially priced tour tickets.

The recently-reformed band are going on the road this year, supported by Run The Jewels, with dates around the US and a headlining slot at Reading and Leeds Festival.

The band have been donating some of the proceeds from ticket sales to charity, as well as holding back 10% of tickets in each city to sell at a higher price, with 100% of the money going to good causes.

Band member Tom Morello took to Instagram to reveal to fans that they have made a considerably amount of money for charity, as well as fend off scalpers trying to sell tickets on at inflated prices.

Tom said: ‘So far we have been able to block aproxx 85% of scalpers trying to buy tickets and in two days have raised over $3,000,000 for charity.

‘Still annoying scalpers (and misinformation) remain. We appreciate the overwhelming demand and are discussing next steps to ensure more of you will be able to come and see us.’

Rage Against The Machine confirmed their reunion in November 2019 after a nine-year hiatus.

It is Rage Against The Machine’s third time performing at Reading and Leeds, having previously played the festival in both 1996 and 2008.

We last heard from Rage in 2018 when they sent Nigel Farage a cease-and-desist letter over the name of his podcast, as they criticised the Brexit Party leader as ‘the antithesis of what RATM stands for.’
