Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2020 – when is the festival and how can you get tickets?


RADIO 1’s Big Weekend is back and this time Dundee will be hosting the annual festival.

As always, tickets are completely free, but what else can we expect from the event this year?

When is Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2020?

Radio 1’s Big Weekend is taking place from May 22 – 24, 2020.

It’s the music festival run by BBC Radio 1, which was previously known as One Big Weekend.

It is held once a year, in a different location within the UK, and is the biggest free ticketed music event in Europe.

Last year saw the likes of Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish and The 1975 perform so fans can expect equally big names to take the stage.

Where is  Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2020?

Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be held at Camperdown Park in Dundee this year.

It’s actually the second time the festival as been held in the area after fans got to rock out in Dundee Park in 2006.

In fact, the Big Weekend has regularly taken place in Scotland after being held in Glasgow Green in 2014 and Perth’s Scone Palace in 2018.

Around 65,000 people are expected to attend.

How can I get tickets to Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2020?

Information on how to apply for tickets hasn’t been released just yet.

But we’ll be sure to update you once the details are announced.

In previous years, you have to apply for tickets i n one of three postcode-based “pots”, with priority being given to locals.

BBC Radio 1 listeners can also try and win free tickets through various competitions which will run in the lead up to the festival.
