Rachel Riley: ‘It made sense’ Countdown star spills on secret wedding with Pasha Kovalev

Rachel Riley, 33, and former Strictly Come Dancing professional, Pasha Kovalev, 39, got married in a shock, secret ceremony in Las Vegas in July.

The wedding was out of the blue as the pair, who are expecting their first child together early December, hadn’t announced an engagement.

Rachel has now opened up about their nuptials, and said they decided to get married as it was a “good idea at the time”.

Speaking to OK! Magazine about whether they wanted to get married before the baby arrives, Rachel spilled: “No, we thought we might as well.

“We were going to Vegas anyway, and it seemed like a good idea at the time, and we had a great time.”

Addressing their relationship, Rachel added: “We’re really happy together.

“We’ve been together for ages, and the baby will have whatever surname it has.”

Rachel admitted their wedding was a last minute thing and said it just “made sense”.

“We kind of planned it the week before, actually,” she said.

“We were going anyway, and we thought it made sense. We had a couple of friends there, and it was just simple.

Rachel gushed: “We had the best day.”

The Countdown favourite admitted she doesn’t regret having a more traditional big wedding, adding:”It was perfect”.

Last week, Rachel shared a baby update as she uploaded a picture of her burgeoning bump.

Obscuring her face and the rest of her body, Rachel stood by a wall with her stomach sticking out.

She joked in the caption: “Almost 8 months cooked and hiding places getting harder to come by… More #CatsDoesCountdown on the way though!”

Rachel’s Countdown co-star, Susie Dent, revealed the baby’s name is a “big secret”.

Speaking about Rachel and Pasha becoming parents, she told Express.co.uk: “I just can’t wait to find out the name!

She went on: “The name is a big, big secret, she’s not telling anyone!”

Susie went on to praise Rachel’s other-half, former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer, Pasha: ”He’s lovely, he couldn’t be more excited either. He’s going to be a brilliant dad.”

Countdown airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 2.10pm.
