R Kelly has been handed another two criminal charges after it was alleged the singer ‘paid $200 to a fan for sexual intercourse’.

He’s now facing four separate sets of charges.

On Monday Hennepin County District Attorney Mike Freeman announced Kelly – real name Robert Kelly – was being charged with two counts of sexual misconduct involving a minor under the age of 18 for a 2001 incident in Minnesota.

He’s currently already facing 18 counts of serious sexual misconduct, all of which he vehemently denies.

Freeman explained he followed a tip that came from Chicago, and it was discovered that Kelly allegedly paid a teen – said to be aged between 16 and 17 at the time – asking for his autograph $200 (£176) to get naked before asking him perform sexual acts in his hotel in Minneapolis.

The alleged victim claimed while there was ‘naked dancing’ and ‘sexual touching’ there was no intercourse.

It’s said the incident took place on 11 July 2001 when the victim alleged she was asked to visit Kelly in his hotel room.

There the singer allegedly offered her the money to take off his clothing and engage in sexual activity.

The alleged victim is being represented by Gloria Allred while Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg said regarding the new charges: ‘Give me a break. This is beyond absurd.’

Allred said in a statement: ‘I would like to emphasise that my client is not a prostitute. She is instead a child victim of Mr. Kelly.

‘My understanding from law enforcement in that state is that the only available statute for which Mr. Kelly can be charged is the prostitution statute.’

Statutory rape laws in Minnesota outline no authority figure may engage in sexual activity with anyone over the age of 16 and under the age of 18.

In answering questions on a live stream, Freeman said about whether the state’s three-year statute of limitations had expired (no police report was filed at the time): ‘That doesn’t bar the prosecution here. Because he left the state, the statute doesn’t [end] until he returns to the state, and there’s no indication that he’s been in Minnesota for [a duration of] three years, then we have a case.

‘It doesn’t disturb me whatsoever that it may not go to trial, as long as he spends time for the crimes he’s committed elsewhere. I can’t make sure of that unless I am at the table. By charging this case, we are at the table.’

Kelly remains in custody in Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after he recently pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and pornography charges and has denied all allegations previously levelled against him. He was denied bail in the last hearing and will be sent back to Chicago.

He’s facing five federal criminal charges including kidnapping and racketeering.

In Illinois he’s also facing charges including child porn and obstruction of justice and Cook Country charges of aggravated sexual abuse.

He allegedly arranged for some of the victims to meet up and have sex, following his performances on stage, before isolating them from friends and family.

It has been claimed he had unprotected sex with one victim, without telling her he had ‘contracted a STD’. R Kelly’s lawyers have branded the victims ‘disgruntled groupies’.

If found guilty on the previous he could face up to 30 years in prison.
