If you’re missing The Bridge as much as we are, you might be about to discover a brilliant little gem on Netflix UK. Coming next week to the streaming service is a brand new Scandi-noir series called Quicksand, from Bridge writer Camilla Ahlgren.
Netflix’s first Swedish Original series, Quicksand is based on the bestselling book Störst av Allt by Malin Persson Giolito. Somewhat akin to the structure of The Bridge, the story begins with a mass shooting at a prep school in Stockholm’s wealthiest neighbourhood, for which fragile student Maja Norberg (Hanna Ardéhn) is summarily arrested. The narrative then picks apart the events leading up to the tragic, bloody massacre, all of which seem to stem from her troubled romance with a fellow student (Felix Sandman) and his dysfunctional family.
What happened in the classroom that day? Our guess is that you’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting to find out. Stock up on binge snacks and caffeinated drinks, gang!

“It is both a great honour and challenge to work with FLX and Netflix on Störst av Allt (Quicksand),” said Ahlgren in a statement when the series was first announced. “I want to tell this story from the main character Maja’s perspective; her story raises questions about guilt, responsibility, punishment and redemption. It holds a mirror up to our time whilst also serving as both a suspenseful thriller and a moving love story.”
This looks like one to watch!
Quicksand release date
You can stream Quicksand via Netflix UK from 5th April.
