It was 34 years ago last weekend when Queen gave their iconic Live Aid performance. The incredible concert was reenacted by Rami Malek in his Oscar-winning performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. And now Brian May has been celebrating the anniversary by sharing a hidden moment in one of the many photographs of Freddie Mercury taken that day. May said: “Just one more LIVE AID memory before bed. Here’s Freddie and Deacy on that stage exactly 34 years ago today.”
May added: “Did anyone notice that Freddie’s hand covers the exact spot on the backdrop where he was born ? Zanzibar ! Bri.”
Fans can see in the picture shared by the guitarist, that indeed Freddie’s microphone is covering the region of Tanzania where he was born.
Last month, May visited Zanzibar as a pilgrimage to Freddie’s memory.
The guitarist even went to see the hospital where Farrokh Bulsara was born to Jer and Bomi.
May continued: “ADAM LAMBERT is only now beginning to be recognised by the greater public as the true phenomenon that he is.
“Gifted with a voice in a billion, for himself he is a passionate and unyielding perfectionist. Gifted to us, he is the reason that we are still alive as a functioning rock band.
“And still able to take on new challenges. Plus … he’s nice. That’s a big deal when you’re a touring family.
“Freddie would approve, big time.”
