‘Queen is FOUNDATION of Britain’ Vine caller rejects Republican calls to scrap Monarchy

The caller who was introduced as “Susan from Shropshire who thinks the Queen is the foundation of this country” described the Queen as a “rock” compared to politicians. Jeremy Vine host Anne Diamond agreed with Susan but questioned the future of the Royal Family after the Queen.

Ms Diamond said: “The problem is I just feel there could be a real crisis when the Queen does go.

“Then do you think we will be in a bit of a monarchy crisis?”

Susan replied: “Possibly but I am 70 and the Queen has been here my entire life.

“She has always stood out as this kind of rock and I don’t look at politicians in that way, sadly we can’t abolish politicians.”

“That woman has just carried out her role so magnificently and it’s a family and they are flawed as are all families.

“I think we need them, I think we need the Queen there as the figurehead for what is good about our country and what has always been good.”

The Queen is just five years away from becoming the longest-reigning monarch of all time.

Born to King George VI in 1926, Queen Elizabeth II became monarch at an unexpected time.

Angela Mollard told the ROYALS Podcast: “She is not the world’s longest-reigning monarch but she has now taken out fifth place.

“So she recently usurped the 19th-century emperor of Austria Franz Joseph.

“He had the stint of being on the thrown for 67 years and 356 days.

“She has now gone past that but she is still only number five.

“So she has got a while to go, she has done 67 years and she has got to get 72 years and 110 days to eclipse Louis XIV of France who reigned from 1643- 1715.”
