Queen and Adam Lambert have beaten BLACKPINK to the top of the UK Albums Chart with their first record together.

The legendary rock band and US singer have reached number one on the chart with live album Live Around The World, achieving the most CD and download sales of the week.

This follows a late challenge from BLACKPINK, with the K-pop girl group’s debut effort The Album entering the chart at number two.

Live Around The World is Queen’s 10th number one album in the UK, and their first in almost 25 years, after their final studio album Made In Heaven reached the top spot in November, 1995. This is also Adam’s first number one record in the UK.

Queen now tie Michael Jackson, Sir Rod Stewart, U2 and Eminem for 10 number one albums, while ABBA and Bob Dylan have both garnered nine each.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, guitarist Brian May said: ‘Thank you folks for making us number one after all these years. So Queen and Adam Lambert’s very first release is number one.

‘Amazing. God bless you all.’

Drummer Roger Taylor added: ‘Number one, my favourite number. It’s been 25 years since Queen have had a number one album and it’s a thrill still.

‘Thanks to everybody who went out and bought it. I hope you love it and get a lot of kicks out of it.’

While Adam confessed that he was ‘beyond thrilled’ that he and Queen got to number one, and that he is ‘the luckiest person in the world’ to be able to work with the band.

Spice Girl Mel C has also achieved her first top 10 record in 17 years, as her self-titled eighth album has appropriately debuted at number eight.

Over on the Singles Chart, 24kGoldn and Iann Dior’s collaborative effort Mood is enjoying a third week at number one, with the song ahead by 10,000 chart sales, as it also attracted a total of 6.5 million streams.
