FEDDE Le Grand first grabbed our attention over a decade ago with the seminal electro track ‘ Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’.
Since, the Dutch DJ and producer has gone on to release a string of dance floor hits, demonstrating he is just as at home with edgier more underground sounds as he is with the huge mainstream success that came with the record that put him on the map.
Fedde will be touching down this Friday January 24 for his first London show of 2020 at Ministry Of Sound bringing with him an arsenal of forthcoming releases from label Darklight Recordings to test on the famous sound system in addition to his new track ‘Dancing Shoes’ which is conveniently released also this Friday.
We caught up with Fedde and asked him to choose a selection of tracks for our regular dance music playlist feature. Here’s what he chose and why.
Joey Beltram – Energy Flash
This is one of my old time favourite tracks, I can’t get enough of this one! Energy Flash gives me energy every time I hear it and takes me back to the glory days of house music.
Ian Carey – Keep on Rising
When I first started DJing in The Netherlands, Keep on Rising was the one I played at every gig and back in the day I did like at least 8 gigs in a weekend. Everyone starts because of the love of music and this was my start record.
Sia – Little Man (DJ Q Remix)
This is my favourite UK Garage track, the underlying structure and that Sia is on this one makes it also on of my favourite ones. With so much different music out there, I always search for something unique in a track and the remix of DJ Q accomplished this for me.
Frank Nitty – Rollercoaster
This track was released on my label Darklight Recordings. Frank Nitty’s Roller Coaster is just that dance tune that makes me proud to be a label owner and release such a great record.
Coldplay – Paradise (Fedde Le Grand Remix)
I have done a lot of remixes in my career, but Paradise is honestly the one I’m most proud of. Chris Martin’s vocals is perfect for house music and that’s why I could create a big room house remix. Whenever I play the remix in a small club or at a big festival, the crowd always react in a positive way and give me so much energy.
Bugzy Malone – Run (feat.Rag’n’Bone Man) (Offaiah Remix)
For me this is really how house music is meant to be! It brings me a lot of energy and raises my spirit.
