PS4 owners are reporting that the PSN is down and core PlayStation Network services are not working.
Issues began earlier tonight and are apparently causing some users to see PS4 maintenance errors.
Some PS4 owners are getting np-34957-8 error messages popping up after trying to sign in to their accounts.
It’s unclear what is causing tonight’s outage or how long it might last, however, more is expected to be shared by Sony if problems continue.
One affected user writes: “It’s down here in Florida too. Was trying to watch PSNetwork and I can’t even do that. I can’t restore anything. I’ve restarted the PS4 also, and that didn’t do anything. How long is this maintenance going to last?”
Tonight’s problems have not been listed on the official PSN status site, although there is a reference to problems using the PlayStation Store.
“You may have some difficulty accessing features and products on the PlayStation Store. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience,” reads the PlayStation support message.
The official support site also references the NP-34957-8 PS4 Error Code, stating that it is directly connected to when the PSN goes into maintenance.
“Server communication error – The PlayStation Network might be undergoing maintenance,” the support message reads.
The good news is that tonight’s outage does not look widespread and may mean it will be over relatively quickly.
