Will a new star emerge?
19:00: I mentioned that Manchester United didn’t have a lot of experience on the bench – but could that see a new hero emerge?
Three years on from relative unknown Marcus Rashford bursting onto the scene in a European match, the likes of Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and James Garner are among those hoping to make their mark.
All three have made their debuts, unlike fellow talented teenagers Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams. The latter was as surprised as anyone with his inclusion in the 20-man squad and much is expected of 17-year-old Greenwood.

The starting XI…
18:55: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer names the strongest possible XI… but that bench looks worrying.
Garner, Gomes, Chong, Greenwood… Not a lot of experience to change things.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Young, Bailly, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Pereira, Rashford, Lukaku.

Twitter round-up
Adam: They say you should follow your dreams. So tonight I’m sticking £5 on a 3-1 Manchester United win tonight. Woke up this morning after a vivid dream that Romelu Lukaku (2) and Marcus Rashford (1) got the goals.
Said: For me I’ll be happy if we can put up a good fight and stay in the game! Marco Verratti against Scott McTominay… naaa it’s not happening! Stay in the game for first 30 minutes then maybe just maybe!
Abu-Bark: All out attack, leave with no regrets. Let’s do this United!
Are you sure that was a dream and you weren’t watching a Betfair advert whilst in bed, Adam?

All aboard the hype train
18:45: Manchester United’s social media team have put together an inspirational video for tonight’s clash.
It’s quite a new phenomenon for Premier League clubs to do this in Europe these days. It’s a shame we don’t have these for mid-table Premier League games.
Who wouldn’t want to see a montage of Watford vs West Ham put to Titanic music? Anyway, the video is below if you fancy ‘getting all the feels’ as one Twitter user described it…
United down to the bare bones
18:40: If United’s challenge was not hard enough in the French capital, they arrive without 10 players.
Paul Pogba’s red card at the end of the first leg compounded the loss and ruled him out of the Parc des Princes clash, which fellow midfielders Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata will also miss.
The absence of Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian diminishes Solskjaer’s defensive options, while in attack Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez are out through injury.

Can United make history?
18:35: Sorry, don’t quite know what happened with that introduction below. I think I got a bit carried away.
Good to know that Screenwriting degree has been put to good use though…
Believe it or not, the 2-0 first leg defeat to PSG was United’s heaviest ever home loss in European competition.
Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe did the damage at Old Trafford last month and leave things looking bleak for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
UEFA research shows that of the 106 teams that have previously secured a 2-0 first-leg away win in European Cup history, all 106 have made it through.
Furthermore, United have never come back from a first-leg home defeat to win the tie in UEFA competition.
Evening…
18:30: Before we get started, I’ll need you to imagine the Mission Impossible theme playing quietly in the background.
I would have embedded the song but I’m worried Tom Cruise will knock on my door and demand payment…
Manchester United have an absolute mountain to climb and will need to rewrite the history books to progress to the quarter-finals.
“Dum da-da-dum da….”
All 106 teams that have previously secured a 2-0 first leg away win in the European Cup have made it through.
History isn’t the only thing in PSG’s favour – Ole Gunner Solskjaer is also without 10 first-team players for the trip to the Parc des Princes.
“Dum dum!”
Manchester United’s mission, should they choose to accept it, is to take a depleted squad to Paris to overturn a two-goal deficit against one of the best sides in Europe.
Warning: This message will self destruct in 5 seconds…
PSG vs MANCHESTER UNITED
Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba are among Manchester United’s 10 first-team absentees as they take on Paris St Germain in the Champions League.
Sanchez faces up to six weeks out with a knee injury sustained against Southampton at the weekend, while France midfielder Pogba will be unavailable for the last-16 clash after being sent off late in last month’s first-leg loss. Anthony Martial remains sidelined with a groin injury, while Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera also remain absent.
Juan Mata, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian are also unavailable. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought a number of young talents to France, with 18-year-old defender Brandon Williams joining up with the senior squad for the first time.
Manchester United provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Grant, Bailly, Dalot, Lindelof, Rojo, Shaw, Smalling, Williams, Young, Fred, Garner, Gomes, McTominay, Pereira, Chong, Greenwood, Lukaku, Rashford.
