PSG 'meddle' in Liverpool's Thiago Alcantara transfer negotiations

PSG are doing what they can to rival Liverpool for the signature of Bayern Munich’s Thiago.

The midfielder has told the German champions that he wants out after seven years at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool were heavily linked with his services when the news first broke and were thought to have already discussed personal terms with the Spanaird.

But the drawn out nature of the transfer means that PSG have been able to come to the table.

The Parisians’ sporting director Leonardo has already offered €30m (£27m) for Thiago according to Le 10 Sport.

PSG have often been aggressive in the transfer market whereas the Reds are far more measured.

Thiago is expected to leave Bayern this summer

Recruitment guru Michael Edwards has been hailed for how he has worked alongside Jurgen Klopp to build an all conquering side at Anfield.

Liverpool were reluctant to stump up Bayern’s full asking price – believed to be around £30m – all in one go.

They instead wanted to pay the fee in installments according to reports which has prolonged negotiations.

Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already confessed that the Bavarians are prepared to sell the 29-year-old this summer.

Thiago has one year remaining on his deal and after seven years in Germany in ready to seek a new challenge.

PSG chief Leonardo is trying to hijack the deal

He moved to Bayern in 2013 and has won the Bundesliga title in every year he has been at the club.

Liverpool opted not to bring in any marquee names last summer following their Champions League success which proved to be a shrewd move as they captured the Premier League title.

But as their rivals continue to strengthen Klopp is expected to add where he can.

The German actually has a host of midfield options but Thiago’s arrival would still be a major coup for the Merseysiders.
