PS5 preorders BOOST: Here's how you can be first in line for next PlayStation

PS5 will cap off a jam packed year of game releases in 2020 when the new PlayStation launches just in time for Christmas next year. Sony has already confirmed that the PS5 will have a release date during holiday 2020 – around the same time the Xbox Scarlett launches. It’s rumoured that Sony will be holding a major event in February where all will be revealed on the PS5.

A release date announcement, the price of the next PS5 along with the launch line-up is likely to be confirmed during the PlayStation 5 event.

Fans will also surely see what the PS5 console and controller looks like as well as getting demos of games running on the next PlayStation.

And ahead of the PS5 release date PlayStation fans looking to be first in line to get the next-gen console have been given a boost.

As reported on in a post by Spiel Times, major retailers around the world are offering PS5 pre-order notification sign-up right now.

It’s been revealed that the PS5 will be capable of 8K visuals, boast ray tracing graphics and be backwards compatible.

The rumour mill has also claimed that the PS5 backwards compatibility will cover all gens.

If true, this would mean that over 25 years worth of PlayStation games would be playable on the PS5.

Sony has confirmed that the PS5 will be out during holiday 2020, that it will be called the PlayStation 5 and have given details on the controller.

The PS5’s controller will ditch the force feedback rumble seen in previous DualShock joypads for the more sophisticated haptic feedback.

This will give players advanced rumble feedback, with gamers – for example – able to feel the difference in driving games between road and dirt tracks.

In other PS5 news, it’s emerged that when the next-gen comes along the PS5 will have one distinct advantage over the Xbox Scarlett.

Phil Spencer has recently revealed one interesting tidbit of information about what the future holds for the Xbox brand.

The Xbox bigwig has revealed that Microsoft are not planning on releasing a VR headset for the Xbox Two.

On Twitter Spencer said: “I’ve said publically (sic), I love how our industry has pioneered: AI, physics, 3D, RT, VR/AR etc.

“For us, it’s about focus on our innovations right now. I’ve played some great VR games, I got to play HL:Alyx in the summer, amazing.

“It’s just not our focus with Scarlett”.

Sony, meanwhile, has sold over four million PSVR headsets and are heavily rumoured to be working on a PSVR 2 headset for the PS5.

If Xbox are shying away from launching a VR headset then that opens the door to Sony having a monopoly on that corner of the market in the next-gen.
