PS4 update: Download a surprise PlayStation game bonus today

Gamers looking for a new PS4 game to try out have the perfect opportunity this weekend.

Sony looks to add new content regularly to their PlayStation Network, with only Nintendo beating them when it comes to regular demo content.

And this month has proved no different, with a ton of new PSN demos made available to fans on PS4 consoles.

Gamers in October can download and play The MISSING J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories demo right now.

Weighing in at less than 5GB, the new content also comes in a number of languages, making it even more accessible globally.

The game was originally launched back in 2018 and received top reviews on its debut.

But it’s taken quite some time for the demo version to appear on the PlayStation Network in the UK.

It should be noted that the missing has an age rating of 16+ meaning only those old enough should download and play.

There are additional warnings that this game contains explicit content, including violence.

The game itself is a horror puzzler and the demo version only offer a limited amount of gameplay.

“The sudden disappearance of a dear friend spurs J.J. Macfield to go look for her friend on the curious Island of Memories,” the official game description explains.

“You can’t die on this nightmare island, even if you’re seriously injured.

“No matter how many times J.J.’s brought back from the grips of death, she drags her mangled body deeper into the woods.

“Despite the horrifying death traps across the mysterious island, J.J. is able to revive from death endlessly. Many traps and gimmicks can be overcome only by bringing harm to your body, such as being struck by an iron ball, or by dismemberment.

“Be wary of your surroundings and look for ways, conventional and unconventional, to get through the island.”

This latest PS4 demo release follows the surprise news that The Last of Us Part 2 release date has been delayed.

Set to be one of the biggest launches on the PlayStation platform next year, developers Naugty Dog have decided to move their launch plans to May.

Neil Druckmann, Creative Director at Naughty Dog, explained the decision in a new blog post, confirming that more times was needed to complete the highly anticipated project.

“It was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realised we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality,” Druckmann confirms in the new announcement.

“At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.

“While we’re relieved that we won’t have to compromise our vision, we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to avoid this exact situation.”

The only good news is that fans can expect more free content to be released on the PSN in the months to come.

Even now, gamers can download and play The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 if they have an active PS Plus membership.
