PS4 Surprise UPDATE: Free PlayStation bonus available to download today

PS4 game fans who fancy trying out a new challenge today can download a demo launched just days ago.

Omen of Sorrow is a fighter title that has a new version that can be found on the PlayStation Store for no extra charge.

Weighing in at just under 5GB, the new demo is an easy fit for any PS4 hard drive and looks set to remain on the digital platform for some time.

The full game was released on PS4 at the end of 2018 and has received a mix of user reviews from fans.

Metacritic currently shows the game having 23 positive review scores, three mixed and eight negative scores.

The official PlayStation Store description gives some insight into the horror setting and OOS Gameplay, revealing: “Omen of Sorrow is a classic 2D, four-button fighting game, with Unreal Engine 4-powered graphics, a cast of characters inspired by classical horror, fantasy and mythology, and a battle system designed from the ground up to leverage player skill, rather than stats or random chance, featuring deep combat mechanics that favor movement and spacing over tight execution to provide an engaging experience for pros and newcomers alike!

“Using a netcode technique called rollback (GGPO), we’ll provide you with a near-lagless online experience. You’ll also be able to fight your friends in Local Multiplayer having someone in the same physical space when playing a game is a very different experience than playing with them over the Internet. You know that, and so do we.

It’s unclear from the description what limitations have been put on the demo experience and if it is the same as the previous limited beta launched before the game’s full release.

However, as the title states that it is as an “Online” demo, you can expect at least some multiplayer features to be included.

It should also be noted that the full game requires PS Plus support for online multiplayer.

Omen of Sorrow is just the latest fighter experience to hit the PlayStation Store and then offer a free demo or “Lite” version in 2019.

Plenty of others can be found on the PlayStation Store, including Core Fighters for Dead Or Alive 6, and Dissidia Final Fantasy.

And fans can also download the current free version of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 from the PlayStation Store.

This only includes Blackout Mode, which was recently expanded to include a new Alcatraz Map.

“The divergent environments across Alcatraz range from rocky shorelines and caves, rusting Navy vessel wreckage, abandoned field hospitals and tents, a temporary helipad, industrial warehouses, apartment blocks, a variety of overgrown foliage, a powerhouse with a cooling tower, and dominating the “top of the Rock” is the derelict prison itself, where you can expect the firefights to be the most intense,” the official Treyarch description reveals.

Like the full game, a PS Plus account will be needed, with the Blackout Mode trial set to run until the end April 30, 2019.

Another free-to-play game currently available from the PlayStation Store is Apex Legends, which comes with a notable bonus.

While other online shooters require a PlayStation Plus account, Apex Legends skips this requirement, making it one of the cheapest titles to download and play.
