PS4 Surprise UPDATE: Download a Free PlayStation console game bonus TODAY

The PlayStation Store has been updated with new PS4 games and demos this week, with plenty to choose from.

And one of the newest selections made available on the PSN could make for the perfect weekend distraction.

Added earlier this week, PS4 gamers can now download the new Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe Demo.

Weighing in at less than 1GB to download on a regular PlayStation 4, the new Battle Chef trial should be a quick and easy game to install.

The full game has been available to buy from the PS Store for the past year, and this particular demo is an excellent way to check out the unique gameplay before deciding whether to snap it up.

Developed by Trinket Studios and published by Adult Swim, Battle Chef Brigade draws from a number of different genres.

Described as both a brawler and a puzzle game, Battle Chef includes side-scrolling action mixed with monster combat and culinary conundrums.

“Welcome to Victusia, where the members of the elite Battle Chef Brigade are revered for their ability to skillfully take down monsters and transform their kills into delicious cuisine!” the official game description explains.

“But getting in isn’t easy; chefs from across Victusia must vie for their spot in a high stakes competition.

“Follow two contestants, Mina and Thrash, as their journeys through the tournament unfold.

“In order to become a Brigadier you’ll need to hunt monsters with combo-based attacks and prepare your freshly-caught ingredients in puzzle-based cooking challenges to serve up winning dishes to the judges – all while the round clock ticks down.”

It’s unclear how much content is available to explore in the newly released PS4 demo, with the official game page mentioning Local Multiplayer, Break the Dishes, Survival, and Free Play.

But no matter what has made the cut in the new trial version of Battle Chef Brigade, it will undoubtedly provide a unique experience this weekend.

It should be noted that BCB is available in a wide variety of languages and has a 7+ age rating on the PlayStation platform.

And the new Battle Chef Brigade demo is just one of a number of new options that have been added to the PlayStation Store.

PS4 console owners can also download a version of Borderlands GOTY edition today, with the trial only lasting the next 24-hours.

This is the second time that Gearbox has made this available as a timed trial, ahead of the launch of Borderlands 3 in September.

Gamers can also download a demo of Oninaki, with the full version scheduled to launch later this week.

The demo version weighs in at just under 2GB and offers a taste of the new story mode, with the official description adding: “In Oninaki, you become the Watcher Kagachi, travelling between the world of the living and beyond the veil to the world of the dead, to save the souls of the Lost. You will experience a tumultuous tale of life and death, bound to the precepts of reincarnation.

Another good choice for PS4 gamers with a PSVR headset handy is Blood & Truth, which takes place in modern-day London, focusing on a rescue mission amid a bubbling criminal underworld.

And needing only 10GB of space, gamers should be able to fit this engaging virtual reality experience onto their PS4 consoles at no extra cost.

Gamers with a PS Plus subscription can also download the latest free games offered this month from Sony PlayStation.

This includes WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4, both of which will be available to claim until early September.
