Next month will see new PS4 games added to the PlayStation Now service by Sony.
With new competition emerging from the likes of Xbox and Google Stadia, Sony has beefed up its own cloud gaming offering.
Sony changed its PS Now service back in October by offering new PS4 games every month for a limited period.
This change mimics the popular PS Plus subscription service and means more major titles PS4 games are being added on a regular basis.
And in January 2020, Sony has announced they will be adding more great games during its next major PS4 Store update.
Starting on 2nd January, PS Now subscribers will be able to enjoy Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Overcooked! 2, which will be available to stream and download on PS Now.
The limitation here is that the two PS4 exclusives will only be available to stream via PS4 consoles.
PlayStation Now is available on PC, making this a bit of blow for those using the alternative platform.
Both Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted The Last Legacy will be available to download (PS4 only) and stream until 7th April 2020.
The same limitations have not been set for Overcooked 2, which is not a PlayStation exclusive.
“Don’t forget to check out December’s lineup of games including PUBG, available until 3rd March 2020 as well as Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Formula 1 2019 available until 1st December 2020,” a message from Sony adds.
“You can also catch up on Persona 5 and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War until 2nd February 2020.
“If you haven’t tried PlayStation Now yet, now’s the perfect time to give it a spin with the seven-day free trial for PS4 and PC.
“Download the more than 300 PS4 (and PS2) games in the service to play on your PS4 or PS4 Pro, or stream any of the 700+ PS2, PS3, and PS4 games to your PS4 or PC.”
But with the release of new PS Now games comes the inevitable loss of others that were added to the service a few months ago.
As mentioned above, games are only added for a short period, usually around three months.
That should give everyone plenty of time to complete whatever they need but isn’t as well suited to live service titles.
In January 2020, Sony will be removing four games from its PS Now library, including God of War, Grand Theft Auto V, inFAMOUS Second Son, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Strangely, GTA 5 Online is available to play on PS Now but doesn’t include the recently added Diamond Casino content.
“Gamers can choose to stream hundreds of PS4, PS3 and PS2 games available on their PS4 or PC devices, or download more than 300 PS4 games on their PS4 system,” a message from Sony explains.
“Some downloaded games support DLC and other user-purchased add-ons, as well as PS4 Pro enhancements. Seven-day free trials are available for new customers. For more information, please visit the PlayStation Now page on PlayStation.com.
