PS4 fans could be treated to a surprise reveal for one of this year’s finest Xbox One games.
Sony is gearing up to hold a State of Play presentation for upcoming PS4 games.
Taking place on September 24 at 9pm UK time, the upcoming State of Play will last for approximately 20 minutes.
While it won’t feature any next-gen PlayStation 5 news, it will contain new game reveals and content.
“Hi all! Excited to share first details on PlayStation’s next State of Play, which will air Tuesday, September 24 at 9pm BST,” reads a Sony blog post.
“We’re preparing a pretty hefty show, weighing in at around 20 minutes and sporting a fresh new look.
“And we’ll have some great news to share with you, including new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates. Should be fun!”
Thanks to a listing on the Korean ratings board (via Gematsu), it looks like the excellent Outer Wilds could make an appearance on PS4.

An open world exploration game with an interesting time loop mechanic, the Outer Wilds launched to critical acclaim earlier this year.
With a score of 85% on Metacritic, reviewers praised its novel approach to storytelling and intriguing gameplay loop.
“Outer Wilds is an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop,” reads the official description.
“You’re the newest recruit of Outer Wilds Ventures, a fledgling space program searching for answers in a strange, constantly evolving solar system.
“What lurks in the heart of the ominous Dark Bramble? Who built the alien ruins on the Moon? Can the endless time loop be stopped? Answers await you in the most dangerous reaches of space.”
The upcoming State of Play event is also expected to shed some light on The Last of Us 2.
The Last of Us 2 is tipped to launch in February 2020, so a release date reveal seems likely.
There’s also a Last of Us 2 event taking place this week, which supports the idea that the game will feature heavily in the State of Play.
Ghosts of Tsushima is also expected to make an appearance during State of Play.
