PS4 festive surprise: Forget PS Plus, this is the free download fans have been waiting for

A new PS4 leak has shed some light on a potentially huge surprise download for the festive season.

If the latest reports are to be believed, then the January 2020 PS Plus games could be overshadowed by an even bigger free download.

Following on from reports earlier in the year, it looks like Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be getting a demo soon.

With the March 2020 release date just a few months away, fans could be treated to a Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo on PSN.

That’s according to a new leak discovered by Gamstat, which tracks upcoming additions to PSN.

As an added bonus for fans of the original, Patapon 2 is also listed for the PlayStation Network.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo is listed for all regions, although it’s currently without a release date.

The last time a Final Fantasy 7 Demo leaked was just before E3 2019, but nothing came of it until now.

Based on the previous rumour, the demo is the same as the one that was playable on the E3 showroom floor.

One thing we do know for sure is that Final Fantasy 7 Remake has a March 3, 2020 release date.

If this is the case, then players will find themselves on a bombing mission deep within the Sector 1 Reactor.

After a dispatching a few guards, it concludes with a fight against the imposing Guard Scorpion.

“Rebuilding and expanding upon the legendary RPG for today, Final Fantasy 7 Remake tells the story of a world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy,” Square Enix explains.

“In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance.

“Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic adventures that await him.”

It was recently revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be a PS4 timed exclusive for a year.
