PS Plus October Free Games update: Great news for PS4 gamers ahead of PlayStation reveal

PS4 gamers don’t have long to wait to find out what new PS Plus free games are being prepared for October.

Each month sees new content released as part of the ongoing PlayStation Plus subscription program.

And while we don’t know exactly what will be included; we do know when it will be revealed.

Sony chooses to share the big PS4 announcement on the last Wednesday of each month, meaning we should find out on September 25.

But before that happens, PS Plus gamers have already been treated to a few free games updates. Unlike paid-for titles, most free games found on the PSN do not require a PlayStation Plus membership to play online.

So instead, Sony and its partners put together exclusive bundles for their PS + subscribers.

And September has seen plenty of new content shared with gamers on PS4 and PS4 Pro.

World of Tanks fans can grab the exclusive PS+ Silver Drop right now on the PlayStation Store.

And unlike the free PS Plus games offered each month, all items included remain part of your account, even if you end your subscription in the future.

The Silver Drop can be found on the PlayStation Store and includes 400,000 Silver, (2) x3 XP Boost Ops, (2) x4 Crew XP Boost Ops and Flag Voucher.

This bundle will be available to PlayStation Plus users for free until September 30, 2019.

This means it will be disappearing a day before the launch of the new free games in October 2019.

Another bonus worth checking out if you live in the United State is the recently released free-to-play title – Caravan Stories.

Annoyingly, this can only be found on the North America PlayStation Store for now but it offers a full MMORPG package at no extra cost.

There is currently no information on whether Caravan Stories is launching on the EU PSN Store in the future but there is always the option of setting up another account to play.

Another great option this weekend includes the Call of Duty Modern Warfare open beta, which doesn’t require a PS Plus subscription.

Activision has already run a few of these experiences, but this weekend see Crossplay with Xbox One and PC thrown in.

Here’s more from developers Infinity Ward, who confirmed in a recent blogpost: “The open beta starts Thursday, September 19 for all PlayStation 4 owners and does not require a pre-order.

“In addition, anyone who has pre-ordered the game on Xbox One, or on PC via Blizzard Battle.net also can play starting Thursday, September 19.

“If you’re an Xbox One or PC owner and want to play Weekend 2 of the Beta for the longest possible time, be sure to pre-order.

“The rest of the Open Beta period, running to the morning of Monday, September 23, is accessible to all players on PlayStation, Xbox One, or PC, regardless of pre-ordered status.

“If you’ve got an Xbox One, Xbox Live Gold is required to play. If you have a PC, a Battle.net account is required to play.

“Other than these prerequisites and an internet connection, you should have everything you need to play. As a reminder, the Weekend 2 of the Beta Test will include Crossplay.”

Gamers also have the choice of downloading Batman Arkham Knight and Darksiders III as part of their September PS Plus subscription, until September 30.
