PS Plus December 2019 free games: Will Sony outdo last year’s PlayStation reveal?

Sony has upped the ante when it comes to the free PS4 games offered via the PS Plus subscription service in 2019.

This process started in 2018, and we’ve already seen some cracking offers made to fans, including The Last of Us Remastered, Nioh, Detroit Become Human, and Modern Warfare Remastered.

And while we still have some time to wait until the December games are announced, fans are wondering how Sony plans to end the year.

As mentioned above, 2018 has some strong games included, with Bloodborne and God of War III Remastered among the highlights.

The final collection for 2018 was revealed to contain SOMA and OnRush, both of which were seen as solid choices.

But with Sony offering some top AAA games this year, could we see something special announced to end it?

Fans won’t know for sure until the last week of November, which is when the PlayStation news is shared.

This is likely to happen on November 27, meaning we’re still more than a week away from this reveal.

And unfortunately, there has yet to be any solid leaks found online that would provide hints at what might be coming next.

According to Metacritic, Sony would need to offer games that have been rated over 8.1 to beat SOMA.

“SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from Frictional Games, the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It is an unsettling story about identity, consciousness, and what it means to be human,” the official game description explains.

“The radio is dead, food is running out, and the machines have started to think they are people. Underwater facility PATHOS-II has suffered an intolerable isolation and we’re going to have to make some tough decisions. What can be done? What makes sense? What is left to fight for?”

Meanwhile, OnRush would be a little easier to upstage, earning a 6.0 rating from fans on the meta-review site.

“Onrush catapults you into the heart of the action, as you chase down vehicles in vibrant, multi-layered, landscapes that will thrill, excite and encourage players to perform the most extravagant takedowns!

“Win as a team and defeat all to show the world you have what it takes to become the ‘Onrush Champion’.”

Until the new games are announced, fans can download and play the current free games available from the PS Store.

Nioh and Outlast 2 can be added to your digital library for the next few weeks, being replaced by Sony on December 3, 2019.

For those looking to update their PS Plus subscription, it might be worth waiting another few days before doing so.

Sony is expected to announce their 2019 plans for Black Friday very soon and there’s a good chance it could contain a discount on PlayStation Plus.

We don’t have an exact date when this might happen, but Sony usually provides at least a week of deals before Black Friday Sales Day.
