The Gaming Awards is an opportunity for major gaming studios to propel their upcoming projects into the public eye, but some of the biggest rumoured releases of 2020 didn’t make a feature at this week’s event.

That said, the designer behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (Brendan Greene) is occupied on a new project called Prologue, which was announced with a short and shadowy trailer.
The project is led PlayerUnknown Productions office (a small experimental group within PUBG) so we aren’t quite sure what to expect.
The trailer
The trailer shows a lush forest, brimming with bushes, rocks and jagged dirt trails.
Very slowly, the sounds of hounds barking begin to break through the crashing of the rain on the foliage.
The camera moves around revealing a little more of the forest, but a final sudden bark from nearby causes the camera to turn sharply, before cutting to black.

The website (that features at the end of the trailer) offers a slightly more detailed description, explaining that:
“Prologue is an exploration of new technologies and gameplay. Our aim with this game is to give players unique and memorable experiences, each and every time they play.”
It appears the studio is keeping things watertight at this moment – a cruel trick after such a close shave in the trailer.
At this point, our guess is as good as yours as to what these “new technologies” are.

Whether they are being “explored” for the purpose of using them to compliment PUBG, or exclusively for a new game, it isn’t very clear.
All we know is that RealSport will be the first to share any new details as they trickle out over the coming months.
