Professor Brian Cox meets Succession’s Brian Cox and there’s a glitch in the matrix

Bet it was a surprise to them, too (Picture: Twitter)

Professor Brian Cox recently met up with Succession’s Brian Cox and we’re getting mildly confused.

The professor took to Twitter to share his amusement in meeting the other Brian Cox and fans were delighted.

Along with a photo of both men posing for the camera, he tweeted: ‘There is an anomaly in the spacetime continuum….’

What we want to know is if they both turn around when someone yells out their full name and how they figure it out.

In case you’re still confused, Professor Brian is a physicist who serves as professor of particle physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester and has shown up in endless science-related programmes.

Actor Brian, on the other hand, portrays a brash media company leader whose primary focus is his company rather than his four children.

Oh, and he has an Emmy and a Golden Globe, no biggie.

Fans, of course, were delighted to witness the two men meet each other as it is hilarious.

One user commented: ‘I was recently wondering if this would ever happen,’ to which Prof Brian replied: ‘I am worried about the consequences for the timeline ….’

‘There is a balance to the universe,’ another joked. ‘The struggle to maintain that balance is the stuff of legends. For there can be no good without evil, no love without hate. No Brian Cox without Brian Cox.’

The best comment so far is one user questioning: ‘What is the appropriate collective noun here?’ to which a helpful user answered: ‘A rowing boat of coxes?’

A profession of Brian? A succession of Coxes, perhaps?

Either way, we never thought we’d get to see here and see Brian Cox squared and it feels like a blessing.
