Priti Patel slams Extinction Rebellion protesters for their illegal and dangerous behaviour

HOME Security Priti Patel has saluted The Sun’s front page urging MPs to back Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal.

Speaking to The Sun’s Executive Editor Dan Wootton on talkRADIO, she also spoke of her pride in the Prime Minister, describing him as “phenomenal”.

Ms Patel said: “I think that newspaper headline is absolutely spot on.

“By getting Brexit done as a country we can move forward in a totally, totally different way in terms of now focusing on what I call the social priorities – investment in public services, in police officers, protection officers, people, community and country.”

The MP for Witham told how she is looking forward to getting the deal done and encouraged her colleagues to vote it through parliament this weekend.

She said: “This is the best deal and the fact that it has been negotiated pretty assiduously should give colleagues, my colleagues, every certainty and every reassurance that if we are committed to delivering the referendum mandate, if we are going to be true to the 17.4 million who voted to leave.

“This is the right and responsible way forward. To Leave with a deal so we can have that transition so we can give business certainty, so we can give confidence back to investors overseas to come back and invest in the UK.”

The new deal, according to Ms Patel, also ensures there will be a frictionless border between Ireland and Northern Ireland and will enable the UK to grow together as a whole.

And on Boris, she added: “I feel a great deal of Pride for the Prime Minister for what he has achieved because it has not been easy and as I’ve said previously, three months ago, four months ago no one thought this was achievable.”
