Prince William made history when Duke of Cambridge did this on a royal tour

Prince William is the second in line to the UK throne, after his father, Prince Charles. As such, the dad of three often embarks on royal excursions at home and abroad, on the official behalf his grandmother the Queen. In these trips he will represent the crown on diplomatic missions, as well as occasional political visits. In one such trip in 2018, Kate Middleton’s husband made history.

Royal biographer Robert Hardman has noted his achievements in his new book, Queen of the World.

He wrote of William: “Like his father and grandmother, the Duke is now adapt at sensitive diplomatic missions on the big stage.

“In June 2018, he became the first member of the royal family to pay a visit to Israel.

“He is well aware, like his father, that the role of Head of the Commonwealth is not hereditary and must be earned.

“He has been keen to play his part in its affairs, taking a central role in the 2018 London CHOGM and holding several private one on one audience with heads of government.”

For Prince William’s groundbreaking trip to the Middle East, as with any of his royal excursions, he was accompanied by a substantial entourage.

Alongside wife Kate, they have enjoyed plenty of travel since their marriage in 2011.

The photos and footage of tours always focus on the royal pair, but there are numerous people who are instrumental in these trips that many people aren’t aware of.

They need press officers, child care, hairdressers and more as part of their travel team.

Kate and William visited Canada on an official tour in September to October 2016.

The pair travelled with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but it was before Prince Louis’ arrival.

On their first trip as a family with four, they took 12 key members in their entourage.

The team were said to be dubbed Team Kate and were flown in by private jet into Victoria.

They had to ensure 24/7 security, organise their diaries and make sure Kate’s hair and outfits looked flawless at all times.

Kate Middleton’s stylist Natasha Archer – a former PA – came with the Duchess.
