PRINCE Andrew appeared to back Brexit last night as he said British business can flourish outside the EU.
The senior royal waded into the bitter debate by saying there is “no reason” businesses cannot do well outside the bloc.
And he also said Britain’s special relationship with the United States will be undented by our looming departure.
The Duke of York told ITV News: “Businesses we see could be successful either inside a large internal market, or operating in an even larger external market.
“There are swings and roundabouts to all these sort of things.”
He lavished praise on President Trump’s state visit, and said the bonds between Britain and the US are “sound and good”.
He said: “The conversations that were had were entirely constructive and positive – from both the President, Prime Minister and ministers on both sides.
“I got a sense it made no difference whether we were staying in or leaving, there was still going to be a very close relationship with the United States on a whole range of issues – not least in the business world.”
Prince Andrew used to be UK trade envoy, but quit the role in 2011.
