President Trump Has A Twitch Channel Now – Forbes

President Trump has been vocal in his disdain for Amazon since well before he was elected to office, but that hasn’t stopped him from starting his very own Twitch channel. Twitch–a live-streaming platform focused largely on video games–was acquired by Amazon in 2014 for $970 million.

The president’s Twitch channel will probably not feature much in the way of video games (though perhaps some golf will make its way onto the stream?) and will feature livestreams of his rallies.

It’s mildly ironic, of course, beyond the president’s intense dislike of Amazon and Jeff Bezos. After all, Trump has unfortunately joined in the long tradition of politicians blaming video games for gun violence without any evidence. Now he’s livestreaming on one of the largest gaming sites in the world.

Will wonders never cease?

Here’s president Trump’s Twitch channel:

As of this writing, the president has just under 45,000 followers. Bernie Sanders, who joined the platform before Trump, has just under 89,000 followers.

Who knows, maybe we’ll even get some of the debates livestreamed on Twitch in the future.

I’m not sure what to make of all this. I suppose it’s smart–Trump has certainly used Twitter effectively and livestreaming is certainly a big part of media’s future.

I just don’t particularly care to see politicians on a site dedicated mostly to gaming, a fun hobby that allows us to escape from all the political drama. Oh well. Nothing lasts forever.
